  • Important Bird Areas, or IBAs, are areas designated according to objective criteria defined by BirdLife International. They are priority sites for conservation of endangered birds. They are assumed internationally and identified through the application of scientific criteria. They are also considered strategic points for bird watching. The IBAs considered in this dataset refer only to sites located in marine and coastal areas.

  • It consists of the boundaries of protected sites classified under decree-law No. 142/2008 of 24 July. The protected sites are all inland terrestrial areas, aquatic areas and marine areas where the presence of the biodiversity or other natural occurrences, that with their rarity, scientific, ecological, social or scenic value require specific measures for the conservation and management, in order to promote the rational use of natural resources and the enhancement of natural and cultural heritage, regulating human interventions. This dataset only includes marine, estuaries and coastal protected sites.

  • Restriction zones map of the Management plan of the Sado Estuary Natural Reserve published by the RCM n.º 182/2008 of 24 November. Represents one of the map produced in the space planning phase of the Plan, published at 1:10000 scale. Identifies the current servitudes and utility restrictions.

  • Protection zones map of the Management plan of the Santo André and Sancha Lagoons Natural Reserve published by the RCM n.º 117/2007 of 23 August and by the Declaration of Rectification No 90/2007 of 16 October 2007. Represents one of the map produced in the space planning phase of the Plan and it is divided in two (map No. 43a and map no 43b) published at 1: 25000 scale. Delimits space classes, depending on the dominant use and establishing operative units of planning and management. The use of this resource does not exempt the consultation of the official documents.

  • Restriction zones map integrated on the Management Plan of Ria Formosas Natural Park published by the RCM n.º 78/2009, dated 2 September. Represents one of the map produced in the Space Planning phase of the Plan, published at 1: 25000 scale. Identifies the current servitudes and utility restrictions.

  • Community importance areas in national territory in which are applied necessary measures to maintain or restore the conservation status of wild bird populations listed in Annex I and their habitats, as well as migratory bird species not listed in the annex but whose occurence on national territory is regular. This dataset only includes SPA's with marine, coastal and estuarine/laggoon environment.

  • Restriction zones map of the Management plan of the Tejo Estuary Natural Reserve published by the RCM n.º 177/2008 of 24 November. Represents one of the map produced in the space planning phase of the Plan, published at 1:25000 scale. Identifies the current servitudes and utility restrictions.

  • Location spots of geological elements with recognized scientific, educational, aesthetic and cultural value. This dataset relates only to the geosites of Portugal mainland on marine and / or coastal locations..
