The Geological Survey conducted on the south coast of the island of Porto Santo, aimed at the characterization of underwater morphology and sedimentary cover between the coastline and 100 meters deep. This project is the result of an agreement made between the Hydrographic Institute and the Regional Government of Madeira.
Surveys of 20 bathymetric profiles along the Porto Santo bay were made, distanced 500 meters from depth of -10 meters to the shoreline, and its orientation as perpendicular as possible to the bathymetry.
The project focused on Porto Santo Beach and contemplated topographic surveys carried out using the Trimble 5700 GPS RTK (with planimetric accuracy of 1 cm and altimetry precision of 2 cm) and hydrographic surveys carried out using the Trimble 5700 GPS RTK, Raytheon DE719D echosounder and Knudsen 320 M/P echosounder with centimeter accuracy. The fieldwork processed in three distinct phases: July 2006, January 2007 and July 2007.
Restriction zones map integrated on the Management Plan of the Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina Natural Park published by the RCM n.º11-B/2011, dated 4 February and by the Rectification Statement number 10-A/2011. Represents one of the map produced in the Space Planning phase of the Plan, published at 1: 25000 scale. Identifies the current servitudes and utility restrictions.
The delimitation of areas for extraction and dredging of inert materials in the seabed comes from the need to regulate the economic exploitation of the region's territorial sea and at the same time create an indispensable discipline to ensure the sustainable management of existing water resources in a context of economic stability and sustained development of economic sectors.
Geophysical surveys and sedimentological study of surface samples of the sedimentary cover to delimitation, quantification and characterization of sedimentary deposits on the south coast of Madeira Island. This project is the result of a protocol made between the Hydrographic Institute and the Regional Government of Madeira.
Undersea feature names - Portugal mainland and Azores archipelago.
Management plan of the Berlenga Natural Reserve published by the RCM n.º 180/2008 of 24 November. Represents one of the map produced in the space planning phase of the Plan, published at 1:25000 scale. Delimits space classes, depending on the dominant use and establishing operative units of planning and management. The use of this resource does not exempt the consultation of the official documents.
