This Geographic Dataset (GD) contains the geographic locations of the active and historical tide gauge stations operated by the Portuguese Hydrographic Institute, as well as their near-real-time (NRT) sea surface height (SSH) observations. The SSH observations (http://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/P07/current/CF15N1/) are provided in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, ISO 8601) and are referenced to the Hydrographic Zero (ZH, EPSG:10349). Quality control (QC) flags comply with the vocabulary available at https://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/L20/current/. The processing levels follow an internal convention. Level L1 corresponds to data without quality control (QC). Level L2 corresponds to data that have undergone automatic QC (e.g., range checks, spike detection, and temporal consistency tests). Active tide gauge stations: tide_obs_stations_nrt Available datasets: tide_obs_data_nrt_l1 – Near-real-time (NRT) data without QC (L1), sampled every 10 or 60 seconds, with a latency of 1 minute and a rolling time window of 8 days. tide_obs_data_nrt_l2 – Near-real-time (NRT) data with automatic QC (L2), sampled every 5 minutes, with a latency of 1 day and a rolling time window of 15 days. Historical tide gauge stations: tide_obs_stations_hist To access the complete observation time series, or specific historical periods, a request should be sent to cedencia.dados@hidrografico.pt. This dataset is part of the High-Value Datasets (HVD) identified under Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/138 of Directive (EU) 2019/1024 on open data and the reuse of public sector information. Two beach profiles (P2 and P3) were collected at S. Pedro do Estoril, Cascais (Portugal) as part of shoreline monitoring exercises. Survey was conducted in a situation of low tide and these beach profiles run perpendicular to the shoreline. Profile location and a description of points used are available in profile data (.xls).
