This polygon dataset contains Search and Rescue Regions (SRR) attributed to Portugal (Areas of responsibility of the National System for the Maritime Search and Rescue). These are established marine regions where Portugal is responsible for providing search and rescue of people in danger.

Linha de base normal para medir a largura do mar territorial é a linha de baixa-mar ao longo da costa, tal como representada nas cartas náuticas oficiais de maior escala, reconhecidas oficialmente pelo Estado costeiro (n.º 1 do art. 5.º da Lei n.º 34/2006 de 28 de julho - Zonas marítimas sob soberania ou jurisdição nacional - https://goo.gl/rvZYGk).

This dataset contains a depth grid with 250 meters spacing, built on sounding information from the hydrographic surveys near Cabo Espichel. The depth values are referred to the Hydrographic Zero (ZH).

This polygon dataset contains the limits of the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of Portugal, where Portugal has sovereign rights and jurisdiction. The exclusive economic zone is an area beyond and adjacent to the territorial sea, extending 200 nautical miles from the baselines from which the breadth of the territorial sea is measured. The Portuguese EEZ is divided into three subareas, designated respectively by Subarea 1 (Continental Portugal), Subarea 2 (Madeira) and Subarea 3 (Azores).

Este tema de polígonos contém os limites administrativos da zona contígua nacional, de 24 milhas náuticas, contadas desde a linha de base normal a partir da qual se mede a largura do mar territorial. Ficando esta zona então compreendida entre o limite exterior do mar territorial e as 24 milhas náuticas.As linhas de fecho e de base normal, encontram-se definidas de acordo com o Decreto-Lei n.º 495/85 de 29 de Novembro (https://goo.gl/s0rwjx).

This dataset contains a depth grid with 1' spacing. This 1 arc-minute bathymetric Digital Terrain Model (DTM) of the West Iberia domain (WIBM2009) was built from different bathymetry databases. Accurate data, detained by both Portuguese and French Hydrographic Offices (HIDROGRAFICO and SHOM) were complemented with ETOPO1 where no available hydrographic data existed. The depth values are referred to the Hydrographical Zero (ZH).

O limite exterior do mar territorial corresponde à linha cujos pontos distam 12 milhas náuticas do ponto mais próximo das linhas de base, conforme art. 6.º da Lei n.º 34/2006 de 28 de julho - Zonas marítimas sob soberania ou jurisdição nacional (https://goo.gl/rvZYGk).Este conjunto de dados geográficos refere-se ao limite administrativo do mar territorial português estabelecido na legislação portuguesa, no art. 3.º da Resolução da Assembleia da República, n.º 60-B/97 -, de acordo com o direito internacional: todos os Estados têm o direito de fixar a largura do seu mar territorial até um limite que não ultrapasse as 12 milhas marítimas, medidas a partir de linhas de base determinadas em conformidade com a Convenção das Nações Unidas Sobre o Direito do Mar, publicada em 10 de Dezembro de 1982 (https://goo.gl/ogTVX).
